When is Freshly Squeezed not Freshly Squeezed?

During lockdown I have been thinking back on holidays taken and remembered a situation when ordering breakfast at the airport.

It was very early in the morning and the breakfast menu offered Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice and provided an image that was very enticing.  It was rather expensive but I decided it would wake me up and give me some energy ready for the long flight ahead.

We placed our order and I waited expectantly.  I then noticed the waitress pouring orange juice from a carton and was surprised when she brought it to our table.

I explained that I had ordered freshly squeezed orange juice and she informed me that it was.  When I said that I had just watched her pour it from a carton she asked me to wait and went back to the counter, returning with the carton which stated ‘freshly squeezed’.   On that basis I suppose all orange juice is freshly squeezed but when does it stop being freshly squeezed?  I declined the orange juice feeling I had been misled.

Why am I telling you this.  I guess it is the same for every business, what do you tell your customers and is it completely true?  That chain lost my respect that day and I now choose to dine elsewhere when at the airport.  There are plenty to choose from so why give my business to someone who isn’t completely honest with me?

We want everyone we do business with to enjoy the experience and return time and time again, so honesty and transparency are incredibly important to us.

Have you been misled and taken your custom elsewhere? We would love to hear your experiences.

If you would like to know more about what we do and how we might be able to support your business drop me an email heather@compleatconference.co.uk or give me a call on 01489 668333.  There really is no obligation.
